Right.. ok.

STOP blerry talking and just do something already....
And why do they have to benchmark off Telkoms price. Why can't they benchmark off International figures which I'm sure are more easily available than Telkoms?

Detailing Erwin’s concession announced last week, she said the department’s second choice would be to amend the ECA as quickly as possible to allow the Independent Communications Authority to grant Infraco an immediate licence without having to put it to open tender.
Why do only state owned companies receive this privilege? Surely this should be available to everybody?

H_GP : I think you'll find if they do go that route, they'll get sued to kingdom come by every company wanting a license.

They will drop the prices by 95%

Hmm, I take it they also promised to build 2,000,000 houses etc. etc. etc.

I will believe it if and when I see it...

hehe... meanwhile Telkom makes plans to increase their prices by 200% in the next five years so that when this new plan kicks in... 5% of Telkoms rates are 100% more expensive than right now!!! It's all in the "spin"! ;)

It sounds good people! Be positive! :D
What grinds my gears though, is that Infraco is getting special... My English is letting me down here with the correct wording  ... Infraco is being put above Seacom & Neotel.

We need to find out Telkom's wholesale price for a 155mbps line - Surely it can't be that difficult?

Molefe told Parliament’s portfolio committee on public enterprises ...

Urging MPs to use their power to circumvent the requirements of the Electronic Communications Act and license Infraco, she said this would be the quickest way to get the new prices into effect.

Circumventing Acts is obviously good governance. In some people's eyes.

Well, these things take time - Although, If I were in charge, I would've kept quiet and started doing this 5 years ago already. Then only like a month ago, would I tell you guys like "Construction on the final leg of the cable to SA started today! This will take another 15 days to complete. Then +-5 days to get the systems up and running. And we are in business!! Will update to the status of things daily."

But then again. I am not in charge.
