Pretty sure they'd pick you up from any of these clubs if you showed enough ability.
This problem is similar to soccer/football. When it filters down to club level, it's not really easy for the talented players to make it unless they're in the good books of the the club coach/manager. I suppose schools more neutral&have less bias, all pairs of eyes of the scouts are all looking&talking up common player based on what they've witnessed. Clubs rely on you deploying scouts, who can be "clouded" as to what kind of feedback they give about certain players. I think this is the point where someone chips in about the kind the kind of enthusiasm certain moms have about their sons&the sport.

If you think there is no favouritism or coaches being biased in schools then you don't know what you are talking about.

Looking at the bigger picture I disagree.

At school level, the top schools are brilliant and are producing some brilliant young players. However... there is a HUGE talent pool that is disappearing at grassroots level.

We have a massive problem at club level. There are not enough youngsters filtering into the clubs from the schools. The top school players are being contracted directly into the franchise companies or universities and almost never play club rugby.

Rugby on the platteland is dead but for the schools.

So to say all is sunshine and roses while the Boks are winning is to live in a fool's paradise.

Give this man a bells!

I think at school level they are more biased and favouritism than at club level, just depends on how many monies gets pumped in the school and that's on all aspects not just rugby :whistling:
