Hey there again.

I were just wondering if there is a way to get a static public IP? Each time my ADSL router is being reset, I need to update my DynDNS account for a new dynamic IP. So, I am just wondering if there is a way to get a static public IP, even if my router is being reset?

Thanx...

Currently your IP changes when the router is reset or telkom does the 24hour reset. But with the new regulations and no more 24hour reset, you should start having a static ip.

Some routers let you put your dyndns account details into the router and everytime it gets a new ip it will automatically update your dyndns details for you. Otherwise there are various programmes that update your ip to dyndns every hour/time you specify or when there is an ip change...

If you dont want to pay extra for the static IP offerings and are happy with DynDNS (apart from the obvious) then why not get a router that automatically updates your dyndns account?

If you are using dynDNS you can download "DynDNS Updater" from the DynDNS website. This app can run as a service and update DynDNS whenver your external IP address changes - It's free too!
