Just wandering if anyone has had any luck in finding out what Sentech's position is on this and when they think they will be upping this obvious cap.

Orcs I have spoken to have told me that they arent capping international bandwidth and that they just dont have enough international bandwidth. I hope they are not taking on new applicant then.

I asked how Sentech are going to prove that they are not capping it when it is fairly obvious that they are... the Orc just said it was a good idea but couldnt really give me any proof... hmm I wander why...

He did admit that alot of people have been complaining about the same issues...

So then... anyone had any feedback, answers or anything from higher up powers? cuz I just get the same answers to very old questions...

There will be feedback from today's meeting involving some of this forum's senior members and Sentech at some point in the next few days. The capping issue was discussed.

I wasn't able to make the meeting (sometimes living in Dbn can suck [;)]), so I'm about as clueless as everyone else [:)]
Indications are that it went well...

yes, the meeting went quite well. we will prepare some kind of public release (and also an official release with sentech). FYI, all the relevant figures for Sentech were present and kudos to them for taking the meeting seriously and handling things in quite a professional manner. From my side, Well done.

Almost all aspects and problems were covered. The overall feeling from our side is positive. However, the details are too many and like the others im too lazy and tired to report back right now...

for this topic, they are basically sharing bandwidth instead of contending it properly. No concrete intentions wrt "fixing" the situation were mentioned. However, we as user representatives feel on the whole that things should improve.

However, actions still speak louder than words.. thats all I will say for now..

Since this morning 7:00 still no real improvement:

Speed Test
Your download speed is: 8.64 KBps, or 69.11 Kbps
The test took 118.531 seconds to complete

I can't listen to my favourite streaming radio station because of the cap they stream at 128k. Its sad. Maybe still cheaper than 24/7 dial-up from hellkom but that is not what I expected and pay for. Maybe in six months when telcoms are more liberated...as the minister said.

For myself, I used to listen to Virgin on dial-up when I changed to mywireloss the stream detected broadband and installed software for it, for most of August up until the fix I could not connect, now I get a steady 20 - 36k stream with very minimal buffering.

Guys, don't expect too much of an improvement on international bandwidth for the short term. After discussions yesterday I truly believe we will see some improvements... but it may take some time.

What I DO hope will change shortly is Sentech's silence. I truly believe the points made concerning communicaion hit home.

As for more info from the meeting - I'll wait until I have the minutes in my hands before elaborating.
