I love these threads :D

After phoning 5 or 6 insurance companies, and I think 5 brokers now, Outsurance is still the cheapest for me by 10% (one other company quoted me 70% higher and wouldnt drop a cent). My excesses are usually lower too
I've also claimed twice, premiums didnt go up and both claims processed within 3 days (money in my account). It's all about finding the company who's risk profile places you lowest and who's service you can live with.

I'd love to know how this happens. But insurance fees are like bank charges; black magic baby.

Standard Bank House insurance is the pits.

Anyone recommend good house insurance comapny?

I'm with Mutual & Federal. The annual rate I pay for house owners insurance is .0015 x insured value.

What I hate the most is online quotes (I'm not talking Hippo here)
Almost every time when they call me back the real quote is 50-100% higher than the online one (and some online ones are quite thorough, so wtf has changed?). Now thats a waste of time

I'm with Takafol, cheapest rates by far, under written by ABSA so includes roadside assistance etc and the best part?My premiums go down every single year without me lifting a finger or needing to threaten them etc.

Paid out twice so far, once for written of Merc that my mother was driving and once for stolen Prado. Payout took 2-3 weeks because of assessors delays etc but otherwise no hassles at all and they didn't act like they don't want to pay or look for excuses not to pay like un-authorised driver etc.

Think I'll stick with this company since the idea of insurance premiums rising on depreciating assets sounds illogical to me!
