I’m not stopping the search for other opportunities abroad as the ANC will change things post elections. They can sing kumbaya all they want but they will not allow high ranking members to go to jail and I am still of the opinion that CR will be kicked out one way or another.

Even if he stays.. is it worth risking the next 30-35yrs on? For me the answer is no and since spouse & kid is subjected to AA/BEE and Cpt isn’t an option there is no other thing to do but leave.

I think Eskom alone would be reason enough to leave for most, no business can function properly with load shedding unless they have lots of money to throw around for renewables or generators, I am 99% certain it will be returning this winter. Imagine having workers on site sitting around getting paid by the hour, but can't do anything because the power is off for 4 hours, you still have to pay them. Small businesses will suffer the most.

Scared, spineless... those are the last words I ever thought would be used to describe farmers.

You live under a rock? ever heard of EWC? Imagine p!ssing off the government, you should know they don't like criticism, they will make an example of you.

No, I'm not. Lots of my friends are leaving, the last 5/6 people from my high school class are also making plans to leave.

In about 5 years I doubt a single high school class mate will be left in South Africa. Crazy.

Disillusioned/Desperate is colour blind.
I'm not so sure, I'm desperate for some hope as well, I'm also disillusioned with Zuma ... ok to be fair I always knew him for what he was so not really disillusioned when I was never falling for his BS I guess.

What Zuma has done is increase my already high level of skepticism ten fold, I was skeptical of CR from the start while hoping to be proven wrong. He is proving me right every step of the way and that sliver of hope was quickly destroyed.

If it is that obvious I have to believe that many more can see him for what he is.

So I am close on 40. Been hearing this message for the past 25 years. The end is near. Kind of bored of it now.
Pessimists seldom make the world better, optimists do. Try be a bit more positive.
EXACTLY what they were saying in ZIM -- after 1980 and especially later in 2000
Timeline is about right as well

Just ask me -- I have seen it all

You need to remember -- there is NO longer ANY -- "DOWN SOUTH" !

Zim had a few key differences to us:
They fought a civil war.
The white population was a much smaller minority, and the did not have the Indian and coloured population we have.
They had a single president the whole time, we change presidents
They did not have free press, we do
Mugabe changed the constitution willynilly, the ANC does not have a big enough majority to pull that off.

So while there are some similarities I do not see it going the same way. We have a lot more going our way, as shown by how Zuma is out of the picture mostly, and the Gupta's are long gone. The divided nature of the ANC is perhaps SA's strongest hope right now as they fight and plot against each other too. Anyways, like I said, for now I have no plans on leaving. I also think the numbers of people leaving are not as high as is sometimes portrayed here. In my circle of friends and office environment almost no one has immediate plans to go and in the last year perhaps one work colleague has left out of 200.

I have been present and lived through three "revolutions"
I have travelled extensively through all these countries

Rhodesia --> Zimbabwe
SWA --> Namibia
South Africa --> "New" South Africa

Mozambique / Zambia / Angola -- peripherally

AFRICA is as AFRICA does ...........

Makes zero difference whos name is there, they are a powerless puppet... same corrupt parasites pull the strings... don't do what they say, you get pulled... 25years and only one president in our 'new history' has managed to finished his term, he only did it for 5 years(94-99) and he was also just an poster child... other than waving and speeches, he didn't do anything

The differences are only one of definition

The ANC have PROMISED to change the constitution after May 2019 to make EWC LEGAL !

I think you need another of one of those "LEW" rainbow lollipops
And in your opinion that will = Zim land grabs?

Fact of the matter is the ANC know a healthy economy makes it easier to get wealth. If they destroy the economy they destroy it for themselves too. I highly suspect that if EWC happens it will only effect state land, not private land. Private land if taken will be paid for. If they do anything else its over and they know it.

Almost every country in the world has passed though EWC in one form or another, some came out stronger, others weaker. Depends on how it is done. Not that I am a supporter of it in general and I think its missing the mark as to what the real issues in SA are but I do not think the ANC will ever actually just start full on land grabs zim style.

The only way SA will stabilise either on an upward trajectory or down is for the political environment and/or the endless cycles of chicken runs end. They will have to run their course unfortunately. The politicians are poking at **** that is a sure way to doom and won't stop until it blows up in their face as they refuse to listen to reason. The pessimists will stay pessimistic as long as their professed outcome isn't realised so the chicken run and capital flight will continue until they too realise their prophecies or see that they ain't happening

Dream on. #LiveWithIt
