So quick question how long does it take for the move of the line rental from telkom to afrihost?
What is the process I should follow?
Is it also a one month notice?

Nope, takes about a week and there is no downtime

But must caution you if your line is bad don't move it to Afrihost, since it can be a nightmare to get telkom to fix it when it breaks since Afrihost is the middle man

Also telkom seems less helpfull when the line was with Afrihost

Was the thread even necessary?

Answer is simple!

I was with Mweb, they also managed my line, moved to Afrihost had the line transferred to Afrihost, was almost immediate. I had to pay Telkom for a short while because the account was with them during the switch over, but it was painless.

Nice to pay one account and one contact to resolve issues.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I just signed up with Afrihost now for a bundle and i'm excited.

Does anyone know how long the migration will take?
Also, can I retain my @netactive.co.za e-mail address from mweb if I terminate my contract with them?

Thanks

Great choice.

Yes, you can keep the email address. Just request to downgrade your Mweb account to only that mail address, instead of cancelling. I think it's about R20 or so p/m for the mail hosting.

I'm thinking of moving over to Afrihost. I currently have a 1Mb Mweb uncapped account (line with Telkom). What's the easiest and fastest way to switch to Afrihost (1Mb uncapped)?

+ 100 I'm also thinking of canceling with Mweb, must I convert to 1 GB package at the beginning of the month ( is the downgrade instant, or do I have to wait till the end of next month?? ) sorry this has been covered thousands of times in many threads but I want to least painless cancellation of this ISP and least money take off my account. Thanks so much.

All I can say is I havn't seen above 80kb per second on the M-Web News Servers in a long time! TI has been treating me well. :) (1Mbps Line)

How are torrents though? Should be the same hey... :) What TI package is it? (DoUncapped)

I only use news servers on a regular basis, not torrents. I have been reading relatively negative things on torrents. My tests are also returning low speeds at the moment. The guys over on TelkomInternet uncapped are saying that it's unusually slow at the moment though...

I am on not on the doBundle. I just have a seperately billed TelkomInternet 1Mbps Uncapped ISP package.

Afrihost is however my next choice in line for ISP.

Yeah I'm thinking Telkom Internet or Afrihost will be in line for me :) Thanks for sharing your experiences but I hardly use the news servers, I just want an ISP that I can browse, Youtube, download, torrent and I'll be happy. Mweb Has let me down with regards to torrents, they are still slow even after 12 or 1 am which shouldn't be the case :(
