Steers takes a beating online after Wacky Wednesday mess

“We’re going bananas trying to find more rib burgers to stock at our stores – we will spread them out across the country as soon as we possibly can….It is carnage out there today – we’re trying madly to bring some semblance of calm to it all.”

Naturally because management seem to be a bunch of monkeys.

I can't believe people were sooo excited for a R10 burger. Everyone was talking about it. Wow.

My burgers were amazing :D So worth the hype.

What confuses me more is that anything that happens these days is reported through the lens of social media. People talk. People happen to talk on FB and Twitter these days. Why is it news that people are communicating through well established social media platforms? I could understand if Steers took a beating through telepathy. That would be news worthy.

Agreed about the last part. Not about the burgers, mind you ;)

The amount of public exposure is a plus to them - I counted over 370 complaints & compliments on Hello Peter by 7pm and I would not be suprised if this is a record.

Well Afrihost capitialized beautifully on the campaign and it is inevitable that Nando's is going to pillage this. Hopefully a culture that when one company dovetails on anothers marketing campaign they do something for charity - Afrihost has indicated that they are game to do good.

i ordered one myself

we have one steers here
and the owner said they alredy sold 10k burgers by 6pm

What did Afrihost do?

Well they haven't done anything yet - Steers hasn't asked them to:
Basically I put this to Afrihost on their Facebook wall:
you do realise that, like Santam with Nandos, Steers would be in the full right to demand that Afrihost make amends for riding on the dovetails of their campaign. Do I smell a community development challenge or perhaps a gaming console or iPad (with suitable games) finding its way to a place of safety for children in need of care ...
Respnse:
Bring it on!! ;)
Me
Well let me appraise them of the situation - perhaps in the madness of today's special they haven't seen Afrihost's offering
If it's for charity, we're always up for a challenge :)

I haven't gotten a response from Steers to a message or to posting on the wall. Have asked odds and ends who might have direct access to bring it to Steers attention. I suspect though that they are currently dealing with a ton of fires created.

went to steers by my home after work, ordered quite a few, but by the time i got there they were out of ribs but they offered beef, though the manager just got back with more ribs, so ended up rib burgers though, waited quite a while, almost an hour, though before I left they ran out of buns, so they offered ribs and chips for the same price, people were still happy to buy. I was actually impressed, could see the staff were going crazy, they were still trying to be friendly to customers - dont think they expected to be that busy, they ran out of the steers wrapping paper for the burgers, they used the ones from fish aways next door.

I saw some angry customers in steers today when I got 5 rave burgers...... Especially when they had no patties at all left and still a queue at the till for more orders.

I waited 10min in queue to order and 1 hour for my burgers...... It was carzy no doubt

We ordered 53 amongst the guys at work at about 9am, they said they would deliver. After trying to get hold of them for a couple hours we eventually got thru at 1PM and they said they couldn't supply our order cos they were outta stock. Woulda been nice if they actually called to tell us that, had lotsa people scrambling around for food this afternoon...

My very own:
