Stellenbosch ADSL congestion?

My ping is still a lot higher than it should be.

Was fine early in the morning now its back to 280ms - 310ms.
Thankfully Telkom is actually monitoring it now and trying to fix it.

Now it's just very erratic but I have full speed on my 1mb account.

Upload Speed: 122 kbps (15.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 1263 ms

Local server again, 1meg line. This is almost as bad as it was last night (1600ms) and it has been >400ms to local servers for over two weeks. I hope this comes right very soon.

@TelkomZA responded this morning saying that there are 2 congested DSLAMs. I've just sent him my number.

@TelkomZA replied 1 hour ago and said that there was a network failure and that their technical team is aware of it and will have a look at it tomorrow.

"Strangely" my latency has just fixed itself round about the same time:

* just take note that my speedtest.net's latency is always a minimum of 230'ish - so use the Zabbix graph for ping/latency reference instead.

Seemed a very simple fix once they finally had a look. Mine's still good this morning.

So they (Telkom social media team) phoned me this morning to ask if everything was OK after they fixed an issue with the core router, and I told them that everything was perfect !

Its amazing what some people can do in 1 day that others cannot even fix in 3 months...

Mines also still good. I can't believe it took them less than a day to fix an issue that they were denying and couldn't find for months. Well, at least it's back to normal now.

I'm in central Stellenbosch and I've been having some issues again since the students started coming back after their break. Last night I had a latency of about 900 or so to Cape Town servers.
