What's everyones' situation at the moment after the initial 4 -> 10mbps bump? Every 5 hours or so my line just goes dead for a while.

My line is mostly fine, but then again our exchange does not even offer 10Mbps yet... :(
So we will only start to see any effect when the 2Mbps lines are upgraded. AFAIK this only starts 18 Nov.
Only benefit I expect to get from these new "upgrades" is that I can pay for 4Mbps and get (almost) 4Mbps instead of paying for 10Mbps.

@mountain_lion:
The upgrades from 2Mbps to 4Mbps would probably only happen in December - Feb, because the 4 - 10Mbps hasn't happened in Stellenbosch yet as far as I can tell.

I'm still having congestion issues outside the time period 03:00 - 06:00, where I'm struggling to get more than 1Mbps on my 4Mbps ADSL line.

4 -> 10 has happened in Stellenbosch, I can sync stable on 6mbps at the moment. Telkom's ADSL checker says max 4mbps, but I am on 10mbps profile.

10Mbps has been available on some but not all exchanges in Stellenbosch for years.
We had 10Mbps where we were staying in Simonswyk while renovating our home in 2011. When we moved the line (same number) back to Onder-Papegaaiberg, it was back to 4Mbps.

I am not convinced that the recently announced upgrades actually mean that all exchanges will become 10Mbps capable. More likely that you will not need to pay for 10Mbps if you can only get 4Mbps.
We will have to wait and see...
