Stellenbosch ADSL congestion?

Are you sure it isn't just your ISP that is shaping you?

EDIT: I just looked at mine and my first hop latency is still at 17ms.

In my case it's definitely not ISP related. I have tried many and results are the same. During the day ping is 15ms at every hop but after 8PM it jumps to 200ms+.

The problem persists. At about 8PM latency goes up from 15ms to 200ms+. I really, really hate Telkom.

My ping issues started today at EXACTLY 15:00!

The following graph shows that I didn't download/upload anything, yet my latency just varied between 200ms - 1000ms !

Yup, mine's dead too. Just hope they don't mess it up again and leave us without internet for days. I need my internet for exam preperation

There is definitely something strange going on with ADSL in the area.

My line seems more stable than its been in months. Hopefully they are actually busy upgrading the infrastructure.

There is a huge new IMAX/MSAN/something near Lanzerac in Jonkershoek street. It was not there 2 months ago. The paint on it looks fresh.

Hey guys!

Im in stellenbosch area and internet has been on the whole time this week, but been very very unstable and slow.
(2Mbps Uncapped)

Speedtests have shown a maximum of 1Mbps on thursday and best pings of 87ms to Telkom SAIX.
Speeds at the moment are still slow and unstable (jumps between 0.28Mbps and max of 0.75Mbps so far today). Pings are terrible (192ms best to MTN Cape Town)

Everybody else still suffering, or is it just me?

Tested again just now. Now suddenly pings are back to normal. Goodness.... making me crazy!

My ping is fluctuating quite a lot at this moment. Fortunately my download speeds are unaffected and I'm downloading at 2Mbps.

I know sync on ADSL2+ with attenuation of 60dBm.
