I'm still on G.dmt but my attainable speeds are fantastic: Attainable Rate (Kbps): 7136 948.

This morning was also the first time in a very long time I was able to max out my upload with a Skype video call.

I just logged my 2nd HelloPeter fault report within 1 month :(

I'm also trying to get my friend who's in Paradyskloof to do the same, because he is also experiencing bad latencies and it doesn't match up with the times that I'm experiencing issues.

I am not back to my old line stats, but on ADSL2+ now and I sync at 4096/507. Upload looks a bit weird. the Dlink 2500U reckons I should be able to hit 8000/900 or so. I still have a new number and the telkom tech I spoke to is not sure why. So far I have only spotted the one new DSLAM in Stellenbosch, anyone seen more?

When Telkom sorted out my line I had a new number for a couple of hours and a new line port number and then it went back to my number with a new line port number.

Sigh, my ping is still messed up. Last night it was down to 520ms... and that is to the Mweb or Telkom servers in Cape Town.

Agree with Pada though, download speed is unaffected 70%-80% of the time. But latency is a problem all the time.

Will start logging problems this week...

My latency was fluctuating wildly last night and its just consistently high now. Very similar issue to a few weeks ago.

After saturdays brief period of normal pings, my pings are now like everyone elses = unstable and very high!
Though download speeds are normal for a 2Mbps line (downloads are faster than what speedtest reports).

Latest speedtest:

Does anyone know if Telkom still needs to fix something or what?
I phoned and logged a complaint with the Telkom ADSL hotline on Monday.
Missing my online gaming.... :'(

@jcvantasties:
Yup. Saturday was the only day the past 7 days for me where my latencies were OK'ish:

The only time during the day that my latency is OK is between 03:30 and 06:15.

My download speeds are OK (except for this speedtest for some reason), but its not what it should be. I can definitely tell that somethings not right!

It's likely that the cause is the Bellville exchange, which is apparently congested right now. My location according to international sites is Bellville (when in Stellenbosch) so we must be routed through there. However if Afriman knows about the issue then Telkom almost certainly does, and it took a week last time we had this issue. Here's hoping :)

Anyone else still having issues? Things seemed to come right on Friday but latencies are back to the 700ms range now.

I've posted on HelloPeter a week ago and haven't received any replies yet. I also used the Telkom escalation webpage and also no feedback whatsoever.

Seeing that I'm moving out at end of this month, I don't really care any more.

I've tried a different modem and no change either. I'm really wondering what is going on, because it seems to be localized to a few DSLAMs only.

Oddly, throughout this whole thing my internet experience seems to be normal. Normal pings, normal speeds, etc. I live more or less next to the Pick 'n Pay. It's strange that you guys have been having these issues for months and I haven't had any issues at all. At one point I suspected I might have issues, but it turned out to be a faulty router.

I would not recommend going any other route than @TelkomZA. They always phone me within a few hours at most.

Any change for anyone? My connection is horrible right now. If it's fine for others, I need to know so that I can call Telkom to look at my line. If it's widespread, I don't know what I can do...

Mine is still terrible!

Here is how my latency, upload and download speeds look over the past 12 hours:

* I haven't uploaded/downloaded anything, yet my latency is sky high - worse than frikken 3G.

I am back to normal after I complained on @TelkomZA. Good latency and reaching line speed during evenings.

Do you know if they did anything on their side? I have also had one day where my line was perfectly normal, but last night I had 900+ ms to local servers, similarly to the past week.

After my complaint last week on HelloPeter, i got very quick responses from Telkom's ADSL side, with sms's and phone calls.

After some testing and them confirming that "there is no fault on the line and ADSL service has been resumed", my line speed and latency was much improved.... for a day and a half (Friday 17th to Saturday 18th)...

Pings were around 80-100ms and download speed was maxed out at 1.89 Mbps at one stage (rather impressive for 2Mbps line).
Still not normal pings though (usually 40ms or so to SAIX Cape Town).

I cant post line speeds now (at work), but since saturday 18th pings are erratic once more and in the 200-500ms range to SAIX Cape Town. I have had to resort to MTN 3G to play online games (Starcraft 2 and League of Legends) O.O

So i dont know what they fixed on my line and how it degraded again (seems like Telkom just fixed it just so i couldnt reply within their 24hr 'fault reporting' time frame), but i am getting very very frustrated...

@Zewp: Lucky bastard... any chance i can leach from you? i'll lay a 200m LAN cable to my house... im that desperate...
