South African cinema plans

South African cinema company Nu Metro has big plans for next year, including exciting movie releases, anime screenings, BTS concerts, and comedy shows.

MyBroadband asked Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro about their plans for 2025 in the face of the threat posed by international streaming players.

Meh, SK website not even loading in Chrome for me.

This will die shortly just like the Drive In's died
People want cheap affordable pirated movies at home quick quick no questions asked.

Always some IDIOT with their cell phone on.
FOMO at its best.
Just makes it bad for everyone else.

Will pass thanks.

They should stop with this BS. Get the language right. The people of SA are not their property, and we're not animals they own on their land.

The last time I saw this sentiment already put me off for life from going to cinemas. Now I'm just getting plain old resentful.

Can't say I'm resentful.. I just laugh at the cinema companies.. They are the agents of their own demise when it comes to price more than anything else.

Same issue as with DSTV, they are paying the price for international media, studios set a price they need to pay it. They need to make up costs somewhere so they do it with concessions.
People moan but forget entertainment isn't cheap, just look at streaming services increasing their prices more and more, I mean Disney has gone from R119 to R159 a month in 2 years.

What is the price in dollars over 2 years?

Everything has a price, when the price, exceeds its value proposition, it is goodbye Charlie.

When the price of your offering exceeds it's value proposition, go find something else, to keep you busy.

Yeah but you also forget we live in a 3rd world country and our currency is crap, but even overseas people moan about the price

Regardless - a 3rd world market cannot, support the price/cost that a 1st world market can.

To think otherwise, is folly.

No really... pity we have to, have you seen the price of everything here? It doesn't help we have an incompetent government

Lol. Still not loading on Chrome. They don't seem too bothered about making it easy for everyone to buy tickets - this also part of their 2025 plans?

Believe it or not, people will pay lots of money to watch other people twiddle their thumbs and play these games
Sounds like someone who carries around a chequebook and smells like mothballs.
