Ster-Kinekor Theatres appoints Motheo Matsau as new acting CEO

Ster-Kinekor Theatres has announced the appointment of Motheo Matsau as its new acting CEO.

Matsau, who was appointed as Deputy CEO in September 2019, will take over the reins effective 1 November 2020 from Ryan Williams, who has served as CEO from January 2018.

Matsau has been with the company since May 2016 and was Sales and Marketing Executive prior to his appointment as Deputy CEO, the company said.

oh finally! I'm now prepared to pay the insane food, drink and ticket prices they are charging. All this time the issue was just waiting for a new acting CEO...

Kind of a slap to the face to be appointed an acting CEO, instead of just CEO?

Is this even relevant news. How much longer can cinema's survive? Biggest point of contention is the price of movie tickets is ludicrous. 2nd point is snacks are way overpriced.

Cinemas can bugger off for all I care now. Went a few weeks back to Ster Kinekor and my experience was not great.

Could only buy a regular cooldrink and regular popcorn together as a combo. No other option available at all. You either get that, or you get nothing at all. No standalone drink or standalone popcorn or larger/smaller options.
The popcorn they charged me R40 something for was literally a ster kinekor microwave popcorn in it's bag (made earlier that day and kept in their popcorn "warmers") I can buy a box of 3 micro popcorns at spar for like R30.

Their ticket prices have increased as well even for the mere 2D movie on a half priced Tuesday.

The Vitality system did not pick up any of our numbers (even with Ster Kinekor Vitality cards) and the error says to check the log. Ask the lady at the counter and just told she cannot help us. We will have to pay full price.

Their online website and mobile app both kept saying we could not book any movie anywhere in the country "because of load shedding" This was after load shedding had stopped again for a few weeks.

The people i was with, who were staying in my home, drove with me in my car, could not be seated together.

Over priced, pathetic service. I'm done with Cinema now.

wasnt impressed with the experience either,
in times like these (recession) cinema's should be booming and busy,

cheap entertainment for the masses,
instead it turns into a very expensive waste of time.

their marketers should learn that. and play on cinemas strengths in times like this.
