You clearly dont visit the console sections of this forum then.

LOL :D

I know some people don't often associate things very well but he has a point.

Have you tried to play a backed up XBOX360 game on a DVD-R on an XBOX360?

It won't work. Yup. You need the original disk and if you hard-hack your console, MS can ban you from Live. MS also does not support you there.

Apple OSX is a wonderful open platform. The iPhone OS platform is however closed without jail breaking.

Oh and as for the PS3:

Stoobalou writes "Sony's latest firmware update comes with a revised End User License Agreement which allows the company to change any part of the console's operating system without notification or permission. You might think you own the console you paid for, but Sony has a very different idea."

Why do you need a porn app anyway? Just open Safari and fap away. Not sure why you would want to on that tiny screen anyway....

****it, not even sure why you want an app on a phone ;) The best feature I've ever had on a phone is a torch, R250 Samsung FTW!!! :p But I guess I only have this attitude because my MBP never leaves my side...

do they state their restrictions when you buy the product? i don't think i'd get a porn app, but what if i was the kind of guy that wanted one and i wasnt aware it was blocked at sale point. that is surely a consumer issue.

i have a macbook pro btw

edit: and i think the people who ask why you need a porn app miss the point. the whole point of an app is that someone can come with a great idea that enhances your experience. how they would do that with respect to porn i do not know. but to write off why you would need such an app is foolish. if we held the same kind of view for many things; there would basically be no apps for your iPhone or Android phone.

What if there is iPhone app that gives you a scripture reading for the day? What's the point of that if you can just use the browser to go to a site? I mean let's face it even a facebook app falls into the same category. So to a Twitter app.

Personally I don't there is anything wrong with Apple saying that someone's software is a piece of crap and don't want to put it on the iTunes store. They want the best possible experience for their consumers and if that means stopping people from downloading spam and **** on their phone then I applaud it. I have an Android phone and it frustrates me constantly when trying to trawl through all the thousands of crappy applications to find one that works.

Apple restrictions are unfair. I have a Mac Pro and it's open - I can install shareware, commercial software, freeware, open source stuff and I could even install warez on it and it all works. Imagine what a flop the OSX platform would be if you could only buy software from Apple.com (and with their approval). Well in OSX badly written apps haven't killed Apple as a computing platform. Why would they kill the iPhone/iPad?

Restricting people on what they can use on devices they paid for is just wrong.

Reminds me of the Afrihost crowd, accepting, accepting until they get fscked over. Where is Apple going to draw the line. It's BS, period!
Uhmm... you're getting worked up over an unproven claim, Steve jobs never said this, it's not confirmed.

Well it sounds like smug-talk so it is most likely Steve Jobs.
If it sounded like words from heaven then it would have most likely been Steve Ballmer.

If you find Ballmer exciting then you have seriously low standards. Maybe the throwing chairs things excites you?.. guess thats expected from a winloser.

Dude you have no idea how low my standards are. Yet I still view apple culture as primitive and it fails to comply with my standards - and no - it is not because it exceeds them, it is inferior to them.
I have respect for SOME things that apple did - as do I for intel. But that they are unethical, anticompetitive and just down right dumb in most cases is undeniable.

Since you've never used an apple product, your opinion does not matter, I use both so have a leg to standard on..

I have never had aids either and I have some opinions about it. The whole "you need to have it to talk about it" stance is apple-fanboi-decoy talk and does not work as an argument invalidator.

next.

Yes but if you did have aids it would give your opinion far more credibility. I don't think I've ever recalled an example on here where a Nokia user has tried an iPhone, hated it and then gone back to Nokia or any other brand for that matter....

Have a look at the old 1984 superbowl ad and get some background on the story of 1984. This is exactly what apple is turning into. The funny thing is, that is precisely the apple way. First they ran on Motorola CPUs and blasted IBM saying how inferior they were - then they ended up using IBM PowerPC CPUs. Then they blasted intel saying how weak their pentiums were compared to PowerPC - and now they are running intel CPUs.

Steve Jobs is a self righteous smug hippie, he is the biggest troll of all and in the end he his a hypocrite for doing exactly what he said he would not do. His disciples live in his controlled environment and are mindless clones of him. They blindly believe when he says apple is the best. When he does away with sex they blindly follow him. When he says others copy from Apple, they believe him. Lets not forget that famous quote : "No, Steve, I think it's more like we both have this rich neighbor named Xerox, and you broke in to steal the TV set, and you found out I'd been there first, and you said, 'Hey, that's not fair! I wanted to steal the TV set'"
Just to correct you a little. PowerPC WERE the best. They had no memory addressing problems like the Intel chips. It was only once Intel had caught up with their own RISC or pseudo version that Apple decided to change. The reason was that the upward path of PowerPC didn't seem solid. AMIGA also found this out and that company folded and then bought out.

Other companies do copy Apple in many ways. Apple were the first with a PC that had a graphical interface and mouse. There's no dispute about that. I believe that what is happening now is they are perhaps forcing the innovation too much. Sometimes these things need to happen spontaneously, without pouring buckets of money into them. Jobs is too old now to come up with anything new. He's also not hungry enough either, but who would replace him?

I have tried the iPhone and found it too gimmicky, tricky to type on and (at the time) limited (no cut/paste, no multitask, etc etc). That technology may be the future, but I can wait. I don't need to spend a fortune on a product I can't upgrade or replace the battery on, just to show off.
