There are five service providers to choose from today, which we’re just one of.
Where does he get this utter bull**** from ?
And you know, we’ve seen everywhere in the world where you have an effective broad band network, you have higher GDP, you have a great economy, everything goes well. And this has been particularly so in the Asian market.
So how about making it the same in SA WIthout the 20 years of milking us first ?????
But we’re not in Asia, unfortunately, where it’s a broad band marketer’s dream to live in Asia where they have bad weather, where they all live indoors and they live in high rise buildings, which make it extremely cost effective to deliver a broad band service.
No **** Sherlock , we stay in africa home of unemployment , and how eaxtly are telkom helping africa besides adding to the growing numbers of unemployed ? With our crime rate we are no better off that asia we too live indoors but ours is for safety reasons , we spend hours in front of pc cos it is how we earn our keep , or do only people in asia work in the IT industry ? Maybe he should move to asia and see how well things work when there is a free market , NOT a monolopy !
STEVEN WHITE: Well, yes, we are blessed, aren’t we? But I think we have challenges here to bring the broad band service as close as possible to the customer. We live in lovely suburbs, in large homes, which means that we have long large copper lengths between our customer and our exchanges. And that’s not broad band friendly. Broad band doesn’t work well over long distances, we have to get close to the customer. This costs a lot of money. Hence, you know, we have higher costs in delivering the service and doing the network architecture and so forth.
I would HATE to point this out to you Steve BUT as said in afrikaans "Dit eet nie grass nie " Once installed the copper does not have to be laid each and every month !! Just Once ! Can you understand that ? Just Once !!
because speed entails cost and do we want to pass that cost onto the customer, or are they happy to get by with what they have?
Do we have a choice ? No "Suck it down" should be the telom slogan rather !
How does this "person" sleep at night ? He must be payed very well by telkom to come up with heaps like this .
