Cape Town - Centre Frans Steyn has been released from the Springbok squad following the death of his brother.
Steyn's brother Wimpie committed suicide on the family farm in the Bethlehem area on Monday morning, according to reports.
Frans Steyn, although part of the current Springboks squad assembled in Durban for Saturday's Rugby Championship clash against Argentina, wasn't scheduled to play any part in the match due to a chest injury.
Springbok media manager De Jongh Borchardt confirmed the news to Sport24.
"He has been released from the squad and will now spend some time with his family," Borchardt said.
