Some decent picks there I think. My post was a dig at the $T selection, which has turned out to be a lemon.

Yeah no, I dropped all my T shares in March when rumors started inside the company about the upcoming dividend drops. T has been good for me the past decade, especially in terms of Dividend income. But, you are right a mess is coming for the company. By the way, there was still a bit of money to be made up to beginning June, and there are at least 2 more upcoming dividend payments, but I suspect some bigger drops in price incoming too.

Some of my good picks this year:

NYSE:JEPI - healthy yield of 8% and it also has decent growth, with a low expense ratio (0.3%)
LON:SHI - 100%+ growth this year. Bit of a gamble, but has paid off huge. Cashed in profit already.
LON:VWRA - core of my portfolio, low volatility all world ETF, low expense ratio
LON:VERX - low TER European Ex. UK ETF, currently underpriced
NASDAQ:MSFT - can't really go wrong, they are a cash machine and seem to keep growing
NYSEARCA:NTSX - low volatility bond+equity ETF while still capturing growth of US equities
NYSEARCA:IGBH - low cost bond ETF for parking cash, hedged against interest rate fluctuations
NYSE:KO - decent, stable yield, as well as some growth. Should improve after Covid.
NASDAQ:NET - (Cloudflare) - they are going to kill the rest of the CDN market due to unlimited VC funding.
NYSE:BRK.B - cos Buffet, that's why

Some not so great picks for this year:

NASDAQ: AAPL - look at the graph, rubbish div yield.
ARK funds (all of them) - meh. Cathie gave me wood, now she doesn't
NYSE:TSM - great growth until the start of this year. Terrible since then. China. Semi-conductor shortage issue.

Jury still out:

NYSE: PSTG - rollercoaster. Amazing product and great growth roadmap, but stock price doesn't reflect that.
LON:VMIG - FTSE250 - OK growth to date but Brexit worries.
LON:VUKG - as above
NYSE: PANW - undisputed king in the NXGW/security space, but already has a very inflated price
NASDAQ: QYLD - 12% yield, paid monthly. Good for income but no growth and high expense (0.60%)

Note: the above is not financial advice. I eat crayons.

You're 100% correct here. The price will reflect the dividend payout on ex div date. And maybe drop even more.

So yesterday we got a teaser of what would happen if the FED raised rates

their dot plot suggested two minor 25 basis point increases in 2023 and the market immediately started falling

now imagine what would happen if the FED actually raised rates

Yes, we did. The moment they raise rates, there will be a huge drop in the markets, but have you seen what happened to the banking stock?

A big fall is still coming. Keep a hawks' eye on your US account.

For now, the US markets are taking a beating due to inflation fears. Yellen just recently said that inflation will be higher than estimated by Biden. Then you have the Trillions of planned spending. Things do not look good there for their markets.

US markets bleeding. I suspect that this may be the start of the big decline. Things do not look good in terms of investing in the US for at least the next 4 years.

Busy dumping all my portfolios as well. Taking profits where I still can.

Evidently didn't look at the EU markets today.

I did not expect this, and not much happened this week that hasn't already happened before- the only difference is a hint of a interest rate hike in two years

Anyway I doubt this drop will last long, but if it does I will be well positioned

I did indeed. Decided to buy out and perhaps pay off a business premises in North Richland Hills instead. Perhaps also settle some of my business debt. Will re-look the markets again in a few years.

By the way, I suspect that the US markets will now be in a gradual long-term decline, very much like the JSE experienced the past 20 years.

The jse index more than doubled over the last twenty years
