If this happens do you guys wait a hour or so and try again?
Its definitely a major flaw with easy equities, it takes some of the easy away.
They don't want you to place your own bids or offers but you still have to understand how it works and double check that they aren't giving you a ridiculous price.

It is common knowledge (or should be) that you do not trade ETFs withing the first and last hour of the markets opening and closing. You need to give it time so that all the underlying shares start trading and the market maker can kick in and start pricing the ETF otherwise scht like ^ happens.

Yeah the market maker isn't around the first and last hours. Also I once saw on twitter not to buy ETF's on a Friday.

What does everyone use to monitor prices or do analysis with and that doesn't require you to pay?

Oops, only saw afterwards there was a SENS release:

In compliance with paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, and further to the trading
statement published on SENS on 15 March 2017 regarding the financial results for the six month period
ended 28 February 2017, Nu-World Shareholders are advised that the Company expects:

- basic earnings per share for the six month period ended 28 February 2017 to be between 338.88 cents and
370.65 cents reflecting an increase of between 60% and 75% in comparison to 211.8 cents reported in the
previous published period; and
- headline earnings per share for the six month period ended 28 February 2017 to be between 338.24 cents
and 369.95 cents reflecting an increase of between 60% and 75% in comparison to 211.4 cents reported in
the previous published period.
The financial information on which this trading statement has been based has not been reviewed or reported
on by the Group?s auditors. The Group?s financial results for the six months ended 28 February 2017 are
expected to be published on or about 25 April 2017.

If the scandal about the TV's didn't come out, their share price would have risen significantly higher by now.
