OR, we did buy at the low price, saw everything was going well, bought some more, had it rise to almost R60 and then saw it going down faster than the FlySAFair airplane.

Regardless, sold it (also got rid of Aspen) and back to only ETFs like I was before. The only direct shares I own are ARA and NEP.

When was this "low price" of I may ask?

Going with etfs sounds like some of the better bets that gets posted here.

Just don't buy Curro, so glad I got rid of that before losing that much, they already 4.5% down for today alone and 23% over the last month.

I guess it finally dawned upon peeps that this shares is highly overweight?

A quality managed company on yard sale I'm buying all the way

Well I'm not smart enough to tell you that I knew it was a low price at the time if that is what you are getting at :p

We are either going to be rich or raging :D

I was raging this morning.
Sold all my stocks.
Bought Gold stocks.
It went up a bit.
The raging got less.
I looked at what my initial capital outlay was.
I realized I am still R300 up even after the whole Lonmin debacle.
I stopped raging.

If analysts are correct and the markets stay flat at best this year, then non-cyclical blue chip stocks like SAB and BATS would be the best for some gains.
Only problem is that if the markets revive in 2017, then you will loose out in capital growth as the mid and small caps surge ahead and you have to hold or pay income tax on sales to get back into high growth stocks again.

But Thor said Jannie Mouton doesn't make mistakes. Thor said buy buy buy when it was trading at 250p/e
T-they w-will build 800 schools in one year

Why you guys don't buy shares at low p/e multiplier and with proven dividends and take 5 mins to look at their financial statements is ineffable...
His advice is dangerous. Buying down only sets your average purchase price on the high side. Will take him years to recover most of what he's losing. Buying when it hits an upturn you start making profit from day 1.

SGL is sitting at an all time hight. I will kick myself if I moved all my money into something that has hit its ceiling.
Don't see that happening. The consensus is that it's only going to be heading up especially with the Aquarius buy-in approved.

Also that's BS what you explained.

Buying now lowers your average price.

Math with me here. On the down
Buy 10x @ R30
Buy 10x @ R20
Buy 10x @ R10

That's R20 average vs buying on the up:
Buy 30x @ R10

That's R10 average

Only problem is that you can't very accurately predict the up.

You will never achieve that in real life.

You buy a quality company when it's dick is in the sand and you make up for it every single day afterwards when the trouble subsides.

Curro I'm buying Curro at a 40 percent discount.

They WILL recover just like every other single quality company that is currently on sale.

Specials like these comes once evey decade of your lucky.

There's a old saying... When there's blood in the streets.
