Companies helping? Well here in good old SA.... Sahara in Johannesburg would be the company to look at... our Nortons logs showed them monitoring our PC for some years thanks to the brilliant character assassination by the most corrupt group of ppl Ive had the misfortune to 'meet'.
Not long after phoning the company and speaking to one Gary Alexander and blatantly laughing at the situation we were handed over to our own personal controller, one Prakash Balliram, who coincidentally lives right next door and is very well connected to the SAPS and presumably certain members of the Government.
Repression? Yes I would say I'm VERY familiar with the term indeed.
