Hi Smurfatefrog,

I am really keen to hike up into the Berg for some photo's such as yours, but the rest of my family arent that committed to the cause.. so they wouldnt spend the night in a tent in subzero temperatures :crying:

That said, where did you find a group to go with?

Shotto

Hey Ninja

I met up with some guys on www.vertical-endeavour.com/forums
We generally try do a 3 day hike every couple months to the top of the berg, and then I sometimes drag my wife and other mates to caves in the lower berg for one night. Temps in summer now generally won't be below zero, lots of different things to consider though. Drop me a PM if you want more info or are keen to join in

Nikon D7000 with 105 mm f/4 AIS lens.

At this stage, the wasp had already paralyzed the spider (a rain spider, I think), even though it looks as if the spider is putting up a fight ...

(To get a better idea of scale: the abdomen of the spider is about the size of an average grape)

Is this the same story that was written about in the December issue of the SA Hunter magazine?

EDIT: Or any other publication. I read about something similar in the week.

Perhaps .... but that would be a coincidence. I happened to grab this shot on Monday (2013/11/25).
