LOL, My Santa took a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

I am only getting it early January. I am counting the days. (They only have stock of the full kit with 24-105mm, ordered body only awaiting stock.)
Who's they? Are you buying locally?

Yea, I am buying the body locally. With all the import duties etc I only save about R400 if I buy from B&H. I rather pay the few rands extra and get the warranty.

All the other stuff I am getting from B&H. Saving about R15 000.

Sweet composition Krypty - and I love the square factor too.

Thank you very much

Here is another one from the same day.
Tried a different crop on this one.

Thanks :p

Yes, it is toned mapped from 3 images shot with bracketing mode set to +/- 1EV. What this resulted in is the camera taking 3 shots, one with a 1/15s exposure (-1EV), the second at 1/7s (0EV) and the last at 1/3s (+1EV). For tone mapping I used PhotomatrixPro 3. The only side effect of this is it seems to "generate" more chromatic aberration (purple fringes) and to begin with the Kodak's Schneider-Kreuznach lens is a fairly cheap one so there is plenty of that already.

Deep man ! I love that. So crisp and cutting. I usually do that with my phone setting the contrast up a bit - but is not as detailed as yours - nice shot !

Makes for an excellent comparison subject. Clearly your 500mm lens is far superior to my 420mm with 3.5x digital zoom ;)

What the exif doesnt show is I used a 2x TC (of questionable quality) which bumped it to 1000mm - from there the crop factor helped it even further.

You might get better results cropping on the PC instead of using the digital zoom.

Thanks for the tip, but I did try cropping a few on the PC - not that great. The end result was shot at 2.2mp (3:2) and just downsized to 600x400. I'm not too upset with it - after all, the new Z980 with 24x zoom is going for R4000 these days so I guess my 15x Z1015 is worth R3000 - not a bad pic considering that.

Swift412 seems to be the winner so far in tonights "full moon shoot out"
