Guess I over estimated the digital zoom, looks a lot better when paying attention to what you are doing when cropping on the computer. Thanks Bwana, sorry for the repost :

Makes for an excellent comparison subject. Clearly your 500mm lens is far superior to my 420mm with 3.5x digital zoom
