Quite reluctantly I may need to retire my Nokia flippy phone as I do need waze and various other apps, but this isnt the thread......

So I recently acquired my daughters iphone 4s - she changed to the 6s - she is on MTN, I am on cell c.
I get my new Cell C micro sim, all works, no problem. My daughter gets her new MTN nano sim, all works, no problem.

Here is the bizarre part. My daughter gets a phone call, both phones ring? How is that even remotely possible?

My son takes the iphone 4s and does a few updates.

So yesterday it didnt ring, which may be because I had just left it and didnt do the setups whatever it asked for after the updates, but it did show all the calls she had received yesterday.

Is this bizarre, its like her old sim is somehow imprinted in the old phone.

This. Must be a whatsapp call.

Nope
None were whatsapp calls
I have the numbers on my cell c phone of the people that dialed her mtn phone.

Weird huh, one of these things that just can't happen.

I'm sure if I called Apple they would say impossible...damn 4s is possessed.

it can also be a link with itunes or icloud.
Similar to how you can synch your ipad and iphone...

It must have been something like that because after the update yesterday they did an istore and icloud reg etc on my name it appears to have stopped.

It's not bizzare.. its all about the eco, eco, ecosystem.. :whistling:

Basically whats happening is that the device was not wiped when she gave it to you / factory reset.. so whats likely happen is that her FaceTime is still associated with the device. FaceTime continuity dictates that if you on the same wifi network as other devices, the one in use will call 1st.. this is the technology(Call continuity) that allows calls via iPad, MacBook etc albeit it is routed via wifi/IP to/from your calling device/iPhone.

Fix: Remove/Config FaceTime on the your device with your own facetime id/create new one.

Had the exact same thing happen! Sms's and Phone calls

Yip.. FaceTime handles iMessage, SMS, MMS and Call continuity on iOS and OSX so that it you can take/red/text etc from all devices without having to look for a specific device.. Not all apps enabled this .e.g. whatsapp or support it via their own system e.g. skype, hangouts

Have a look at Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices. You may need to check both your phone and hers but probably only yours.

This is Apple's Continuity feature in action.
