DStv streaming data use tested — and compared to Netflix

Testing by MyBroadband revealed that DStv Now’s data use when streaming live TV and series compares favourably with services like Netflix and Showmax.

For this test, we used Glasswire to measure the data consumption while streaming on a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.

Quality I'm getting on a 100mbs fibre line is definitely 1080p on my Mibox and 40" TV.

On chrome, 50mbps, the quality does not even compare to Youtube or Netflix. There are always compression artifacts

DSTV hardly ever streams up to 720p on the app. They're once again pulling the wool over people's eyes.

They should try Netflix with an AV1 device - I was getting around 10Mbps streams for UHD HDR vs 16Mbps usually.

I think 1080 was 1Mbps or something

My only question is why does the picture quality on DSTV Now and Showmax look so bad compared to Netflix and Prime Video?
