Streaming movies from Wifi Router

Hey guys. I connected my hard drive to my netgear wifi router.

The streaming of HD movies is quite slow on the 2.4ghz network. The 5ghz band doesn't reach my room.

Are there any settings to change to make it faster?

Define HD. Are they 1080P Blu-Ray Rips?

Get a powerline adapter and kiss your problems goodbye.
I had the same issues.

What does power line adapter do?

Just did some research never knew this stuff existed.

How's your experience with it. Any issues with interference? What kind speed do you get?

It's great, the same as being directly connected to the router.

Firstly plug in via Ethernet and then try. Those hard drives are only connected via USB 2, and the read write/speed on them over the network is not very impressive. It's ok with smaller files, but HD can be an issue. I'd rather spend my money on a NAS than on those power line adaptors, my experience of them is poor.
