Excuse me if there already is a thread about this, I just couldn't find it.

Here goes:
I have a vodafone umts/gprs data card together with a linksys 3g umts router. I already know the datacard WAN IP is not routable so I need another way of getting general access for my video stream . I want to send the videostream via VPN to an IP address i.e. external webserver so a client can watch the stream if the 3g/umts connectivity is on. Is this the best way? And how can I do this?

I really appreciate everybodys help!!

A few points:

If you're going to stream out to a web server, you'll be making the connection from the 3G-side so the standard 3G setup will work.

If you want someone to come directly into your 3G router you can consider the following:

- To get a routable, but non-static, IP, with open incoming ports, you need to switch to the (upcoming) unrestricted apn. I was hoping it would be available today, but it's not. Busy checking up why.
- The 3G router support Dynamic DNS, so you can give it a fixed URL. This will resolve any issues with the IP not being static.
- A VPN client will then give you full access to the streaming server, as the remote user in on the local LAN.

These three configurations (unrestricted apn with DDNS and VPN client) will give you full access to the local streaming server, from any remote client.
