Bad example, many Afrikaners still carry a chip on their shoulders about losing both Boer Wars. Passed down from generation to generation Its hard to be a nation of professional victims without such baggage constantly and meticulously passed down the generations.
Actually, most Afrikaners have a forgive but not forget mentality. The subject is brought to surface time and again because the Anglophone world remains smug and constantly point fingers while they themselves remain egotistical and in many cases racist/ethnicist. There is also a tendency to classify Afrikaners as inherently racist, as if it were a racial trait of Afrikaners that will never change. The underlying dynamics remain that of worldview and the fallacy of a better English/British/American ruled world and even a partially suppressed desire for proper Imperialism.
