Study suggests video games could be good for kids' memory and impulse control

Kids who played three hours or more of video games a day performed better on tests of memory and impulse control than ones who didn’t play games, according to a study released Monday.

Frequent gamers showed more activity and higher blood oxygen levels in frontal brain regions associated with more cognitively demanding tasks, and less brain activity in regions related to vision, the researchers found.

...playing "adult" video games
and they have the cheek to tell kids to stop playing video games.

really wish Kids got to see their parents in the casino
their entire worlds would change.
I occasionally play poker at casinos. It is no game though. 8 hours worth of poker a day is my max and I'm freaking exhausted afterwards.

No ****…

My kids can play all the game they want rather than just vegetating watching TV unless it’s something teaching them a practical skill.

I would argue that practical skills require practical actions.

You're not going to learn to swing a hammer by ONLY watching someone else do it.

I'm not saying turn your laaitie into South Africas' youngest certified sparky, but knowing how to wire a plug is pretty handy.

Oh no I’m not saying that they don’t learn practical skills physically and use the TV instead.

I’m just saying as opposed to most kids just sitting in front of the TV learning nothing by doing so I’ll rather have them playing games where they actually use their brains.

While I’m not quite ready to break the barrier of playing with electricity they are quite DIY handy already and both have plenty of cooking and baking skills outside of knife work.

I have it on good authority that playing competitive games also stimulates the frontal lobe cortii responsible for generating ****ed-your-mom quips..
