I'm sick and tired from cleaning SMS'd from SIM card!
Now every time when phone loose 3G connection with 8ta and start rooming i receive SMS from 8ta "Your internet access has been paused because your current data bundle is depleted. . . . ."
Bundle IS NOT DEPLETED! It is prepaid 60G bundle!
It working only at 8ta network. I fully aware of this!
Why they send to me hundreds of SMS which create tons of garbage on the SIM card?
I have 2 SIM smartphone where one SIM is for the data. When i'm driving in town (JHB) there is lot of the areas where is not 8ta coverage and every time when i got to such place 8ta sent to me SMS that "my data bundle is depleted".
Who is this "smart" person to make this stupid thing?

I never get those smses. Perhaps turn roaming off as its only for the telkom mobile anyway so it wont send you those smses. Why do you even have roaming turned on in the first place?

Alternatively get An Iphone running IOS 7 and under settings, phone, you can just block that number as IOS 7 has the block feature built in to prevent any unwanted sms, calls and emails.

Android has the same feature.
Tap on the offending message, then go to MENU, and select ADD TO SPAM NUMBERS.
You can go one step further, and go to PHONE, then LOGS, select the number, press MENU and select ADD TO REJECT LIST.

(To add to the above: ) You can even block specific words if you don't want to block all 8ta smses.

Lekker Saterday night eh DJ? :D

@OP. Totally agree. The message comes after your all networks bundle is depleted (or you have none), and your device starts to roam.

Yeah when I used a prepaid sim I would get about 20 of the same sms a day. Very very annoying. Best thing is just to buy like the cheapest all network bundle..... Having a Telkom Mobile bundle only is very problematic if you use the sim in a phone and travel with it.

Yes but its only Telkom Mobile data. Once it goes to MTN roaming cause no Telkom Mobile coverage you get that message. So it won't just start using the airtime.....

It CAN'T START USING ANY AIR TIME! This is the contract to use data ONLY @ 8ta network !!!!!
This is clearly printed in terms of usage!
Why it telling me that bundle is depleted??? What bundle is depleted???

OK! We talk different languages!
I have 2Sim Smartphone ZOPO-980T. Very nice BTW!
DATA SIM blocked for roaming and set to work only for 3G (not to ANY 2G) for specific network 65502 (8ta).
For any case i have R50 extra on this SIM - emergency calls and SMS if needed.
Voice SIM - CELL-C.
Can one (preferable 8ta rep) explain to me WHICH BUNDLE IS DEPLETED?????
As much as understand English - it's mean that i HAD bundle (???) and it's run out of the capacity !

I think you are saying that you are using a prepaid 8ta 60GB data-only bundle and you are getting loads of useless SMSes from 8ta.

If you are only using this SIM for data, why not put the SIM into a modem instead of a phone and then you would not be bothered by SMSes coming through to the modem?

You are 1000% right! This is what i did with the second 60G SIM - i'm use it at home with the 3G router.
But peoples in SA don't know that on the market one can find 2 SIM 3G Smartphone. And then enjoy cheap calls through CellC and cheap Internet through 8ta at the same time when on the move. This is what i did for the past 3 year - 8ta SIM in smartphone ONLY for data.
These SMS start to arrive somewhere in August. Before August everything was OK!

Buy a R250 All "Network" bundle and load it (its only 50 bucks). That way you'll have coverage wherever MTN has and it won't nag about data being depleted.

And how many docs and presentations i can download for the clients with this bundle?
Some time i need up to 500 - 800 Mb traffic on the phone per day!

Ok Let me explain this then so you will understand it now.... :)

Telkom Mobile works as follows. They have their own 3G network and where they do not have coverage they use to roam on MTN. Just like Cellc when cellc doesn't have network you will see it switches to vodacom for roaming.....

With Telkom Mobile they also offer 2 types of data bundles.....

1. Telkom Mobile only data bundles. These would include the 60+60 bundle and the 2+1 bundle.
2. All networks data bundles. These are the more expensive bundles you can see here with the circle all in blue next to them http://www.telkommobile.co.za/plans/prepaid-data/

Telkom Mobile does this to offer cheap data to users that can be used on their own network only and not while roaming.

Now if you have a Telkom Mobile bundle only [like you now] it allows you to use that ONLY on the telkom mobile network..... Once the sim switches to roam on MTN you can NOT use the cheap data cause the sim is NOW roaming on MTN and you do not have a ALL network bundle..... So what telkom does they send you a sms saying listen you don't have a all network bundle and therefore your internet is now paused until you agree to go out of bundle or buy the expensive all network bundle.

You do not have to agree to either but your internet will not work then when you roam on MTN......

So I have 2 Solutions for you.................

1. Buy the 25mb data bundle for R15 so when the network switches to MTN you won't get a SMS saying bundle depleted.... Obviouslly you will only have 25mb data to use WHEN USING MTN SIGNAL. When you have telkom mobile signal it will use your big data bundle....

2. Change the price plan via *180# and change it to prepaid data promotion. This will FORCE the sim to use Telkom Mobile ONLY. You will not get a sms then anymore ******BUT****** when you do not have Telkom Mobile signal the telkom mobile sim WILL NOT WORK. !!This price plan change is not reversable so I do not recommend this method!!

Hi cavedog!
Thank you for the post.
I know all this from beginning of use 8ta. This is my second 60+60 SIM in smartphone and i use it from March.
Nothing changes from my side but these SMS start to arrive only in August.
I found third solution today - installed blacklist app from Playstore.
081188 is blocked for receiving SMS to my phone.

PS! Data roaming was disabled in phone settings all the time!
