Good day gentlemens and gentlenotmens
I'm a long time MTN pay-as-you-go user who has finally decided on a phone worth getting on contract and would like some further information from the knowledgeable bods out there. I'd like to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S2 on an MTN Top-Up 350 contract, but have a number of questions regarding this since I have not used a contract in some years.
1. Can one purchase data bundles out of the alloted R350 of monthly airtime?
2. Can one purchase data bundles out of top-up airtime purchased after your monthly allotment is up?
3. Where can I get a list of prices cross referencing phones with the different contracts including monthly costs and pay-in? The MTN website/s seem to be up to ****, as are most every other SP's sites.
4. What does one need to take into the store to purchase a phone/contract once you've found one with stock?
5. Is there a significant benefit to purchasing online as opposed to in a store?
6. Am I retarded for wanting to avoid Vodacom? Should I drop MTN and go to one of the smaller providers (Virgin, CellC, Nashua, 8ta)? What are people's experiences with reception/coverage with these providers? Vodacom's marketting makes me want to set meerkats on fire, so unless there's a good reason I should be dealing with them, I think I'd rather avoid.
7. Are the call/data rates significantly different between the providers on R300-R350 top-up style contracts?
8. Anything else I should look out for? Your help and advice is most appreciated.
9. Does the monthly allotment of airtime (eg. R350) carry over from month to month?
10. Does top-up airtime purchased on top of monthly air-time carry over from month to month?
11. Do data bundles carry over from month to month?
12. How does one check the balance of your monthly airtime/top-up airtime/data bundle?
Thank you all kindly. Look forward to any responses.
