Hi there

Hope someone will be able to help me with this! I'm looking to get a second router for VPN purposes, and ideally I'd like something capable of having DD-WRT flashed into its electronic brain cells.

Finding a compatible router isn't easy, because they're a minefield of different chipsets and version numbers, even within the same range/model number. Made that mistake already with an Asus RT-N12, and a TP-Link WR840 that aren't compatible.

Can anyone point me to an affordable (R800 or less, ideally) router, and somewhere to buy it, that's known to be compatible with the firmware, and good for running as an OpenVPN client?

Thanks so much!

Does it have to be DD-WRT, or would you be happy with OpenWRT/LEDE?

It sounds like you are looking for something portable? If so, I've always had good luck with the GL.Inet routers, which are very compact, and reasonably proced. The only thing is the time it takes to get here, with the SAPO, so pay for courier if you can!
