Erwin is being cautious.
We might have another Telkom on our hands.
Erwin wants the shareholders’ agreement to be amended to include a clause that will give him “pre-emptive rights” over the sale of Transnet’s and Eskom’s shares in the SNO.

Let’s face it, did anyone take into account the local loop and SAT3 cable when Telkom was listed.
Now here we are several years down the line wanting the local loop unbundled and the SAT3 cable nationalised, when it should never have been included in the deal from the start.
One ponders the whole process in the late 90's and all the key figures that were involved at the time. Remember all the trips to America and Malaysia?

What happen if Ramos decides to sell off?
Transnet chief executive Maria Ramos announced the parastatal’s intention to sell non-core businesses, including Transtel, shortly after she took over as head of the organisation.
Who will buy this infrastructure?
Here again, who paid for the infrastructure of Eskom etc? 3 guesses.

More questions than answers.
Frankly I still cannot see why Telkom was offered to foreigners originally and I feel the same way about the SNO. But who am I?

Might have another? I think the impact the SNO will have on consumer prices is going to be negligible. Regulations need to be put into place to protect the consumer until the market can be opened up to a plethora of operators.

Hence ICASA's wake-up call, and tardy/non-response from govt.
/me keeps fingers and toes crossed...

SNO is more important than Telkom prices and these idiots are just delaying what MUST happen.

I would also suggest that Telkom be barred from buying any shares in the eventual SNO Commercial enterprise that come's onto the market within a certain Timeframe. I would propose five years.

The delay in the finalisation of the shareholders’ agreement is bad news for Minister of Communications Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri. On Friday, her spokeswoman said she could not comment

Ohhh please, she was most likely dancing around the room in joy, no wonder the spokesperson could not comment
