Antonin Scalia: Conspiracy theories swirl as officials say Supreme Court Justice died of 'natural causes'

It didn’t take long.

Barely hours after it was announced that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scala had been found dead in Texas, rumours and conspiracy theories began to swirl and there was no shortage of people suggesting his death was not quite so straightforward.

Given the impact Mr Scalia’s death will have on the political landscape in Washington as President Obama and Republicans prepare for*battle over his successor, it is not perhaps surprising that some were skeptical.

But officials did not help provide clarity by providing confusing and conflciing details about this death. It was initially reported the outspoken jurist had died from a heart attack.

Indeed, the Washington Post said the aftermath of the 79-year’s death had been marked by “chaos, confusion and conflicting reports”.

for randhir (and some others, evidently) anything that doesn't fit his worldview is a lie. how wonderful to have such certain access to truth. life is very simple for him.
It seems pretty simple to me. You've been asked to support your claim. Others have provided sources demonstrating examples disproving your claim. You haven't responded. You've clearly had the time to, you've just chosen instead to spend that time dodging.

Meet The Scalia Death Truthers: Was He Murdered By Obama Or Aliens?

GIDEON RESNICK

02.16.167:01 AM ET

Wingnuts across the country are convinced he didn’t die by natural causes. And the only culprit that could be completely ruled out was giants.

On Saturday evening, conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones, red-faced with an unfortunate pustule on his forehead, delivered an emergency broadcast on his Facebook page.

“Associate Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia died earlier today at a ranch outside Big Bend, South Texas,” Jones, furrowing his brow into a wavy crest, said approximately three inches from a camera.

All of this is true, besides Scalia’s first name being “Anthony.”

But as the blunt title of the video suggests, Jones had other things on his mind instead of a memorial for the conservative judge.

“I wish it was natural causes,” Jones said of Scalia’s*death*which was determined to have been caused by a heart attack. “But my gut tells me no. If this is an assassination, it signifies that they’re dropping the hammer. That’s the canary in the coalmine.”

Who is they in this scenario? Well, anyone in President Obama’s administration that has been culpable for a litany of offenses including but not limited to private funding of the Islamic State and blackmailing Supreme Court Justices for desired outcomes. In this “season of treason,” Jones said the American public would be “fools not to ask the question.”

So the truth starts coming out. I think the writers of this article spend too much time trying to ridicule the guy rather than investigating the facts. Talk about confirmation bias and lazy journalism.

I mean the title and the first 4 paragraphs are spent trying to discredit him to try and prevent you from taking his claims seriously. Stinks of a cover up

Read the previous article I posted. There is some doubt as to whether it was a heart attack.

A 79 year old rich dude, in the country with the best medical system in the world (Affordable Care Act) , dies of 'old age' after going out Turkey hunting.

Surely if he was suffering old age he would be bedridden instead of going out hunting. He was in good spirits and all (no pun intended)

Maybe Cheney shot him while out on the hunt.

They tried to rubbish the claim in advance. That is very suspect. Usually you produce the claim and then start rubbishing it.

Here they deliberately started to paint a bad picture of the guy : "On Saturday evening, conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones, red-faced with an unfortunate pustule on his forehead"

What does a red-face and pustule gotto do with the murder case in question? Nothing. And you fell for it

Dissenting opinion...

http://www.belcherfoundation.org/edwards_v_aguillard_dissent.htm

The body of scientific evidence supporting creation science is as strong as that supporting evolution. In fact, it may be stronger…. The evidence for evolution is far less compelling than we have been led to believe. Evolution is not a scientific “fact,” since it cannot actually be observed in a laboratory. Rather, evolution is merely a scientific theory or “guess.”… It is a very bad guess at that. The scientific problems with evolution are so serious that it could accurately be termed a “myth.”

Your trolling has lost its subtlety... anyway the average lifespan of an American male is 78.7 years, he was one year overdue.

Antonin Scalia death: Questions asked as US fights over successor

Questions have been raised over the handling of US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's death, as political sniping over his successor continues.

A judge ruled that Mr Scalia died from natural causes despite initial confusion over the cause of death.

The judge said she had been assured "there were no signs of foul play".

US President Barack Obama is expected to nominate a new justice in coming weeks but Republicans want the decision to be left to his successor next year.

The question of who will replace Mr Scalia, a powerful conservative voice in America's highest court, is turning into a big battle between Republicans and Democrats in a crucial presidential election year, and could spark a constitutional crisis.

No autopsy

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump described the circumstances surrounding Mr Scalia's death as "unusual" in a discussion with prominent conservative radio show host Michael Savage on Tuesday.

Mr Savage, whose radio show draws in millions of listeners, called for "an immediate autopsy before the body is disposed of".

The Hypocrisy Of Mitch McConnell: Republican's Latest Position on 'Thurmond Rule' To Block Obama Supreme Court Nominees

The Mitch McConnell of 2016 is singing a pretty different tune than he has in the past regarding a president’s job to nominate a Supreme Court justice when there is a vacancy and the Senate's role in approving the*nominee.

“Our Democratic colleagues continually talk about the so-called Thurmond Rule, under which the Senate supposedly stops confirming judges in a presidential-election year,” McConnell said on theSenate floor in 2008. “The*seeming obsession with this rule that doesn’t exist is just an excuse for our colleagues to run out the clock on qualified nominees who are waiting to fill badly*needed vacancies.”

But, to hear McConnell today with a Democratic president hoping to fill a vacancy, that rule does seem to exist. The Thurmond rule has traditionally only applied to the last six months of the presidency —which, for Obama, won’t be until late June. *While he once argued for leniency with the Thurmond rule, McConnell now says*he’d be shocked*if the president nominated a justice 11 months before the end of his presidency.

Better than always lying I suppose. Still no sources for the 'tradition' BS Arthur?
He was listening to Chuck Grassley. And so can probably cannot back it up

“The fact of the matter is that it’s been standard practice over the last 80 years to not confirm Supreme Court nominees during a presidential election year," Grassley said.

His reasoning? Nothing to do with the law or tradition or anything of the sort

"Given the huge divide in the country, and the fact that this president, above all others, has made no bones about his goal to use the courts to circumvent Congress and push through his own agenda, it only makes sense that we defer to the American people who will elect a new president to select the next Supreme Court Justice.”

One example of a Supreme Court justice being confirmed to the court in an election year happened in 1988.*

President Ronald Reagan nominated Anthony Kennedy to the court on Nov.30, 1987. He was confirmed in a 97-0 vote on Feb. 3, 1988. Grassley was one of the 97 votes in favor of Kennedy. Democrats held the majority in the chamber.*
