Surely IMAP isnt meant to work like this?

Skipping past all the boring stuff, my work emails dont seem to come through on my PC but rather take priority on my phone, isnt IMAP meant to send emails to all devices regardless if they have been read like Gmail?

They come though on webmail too.

Thanks.

Ive been told to have POP3 on the PC and IMAP on the phone but isnt that defeating the point?

Who ever told you that either has no clue how to set up mail or does not have the infracture to handle it. But my guess is the former.

I have been using IMAP on all my devices, one gmail account. Works perfectly. Using default settings.

Sometimes the email comes through first on my phone, other times the PC is first.

Doesn't bother me at all.

FWIW I also used POP3, but ditched it when I start to get synchronizarion issues and missing emails.
