Spoke to Vaughaun and he gave me some other number here in Joburg. 011-608.... not sure about the company name. The company in Joburg is official Polk Audio distributor in SA and they don't bring CS20. The owner says, that they don't play games here and are not interested in CS 20. What they bring is CS10, CSi A4 and CSi A6. Will get CS20 from States if any one else does not know where i can find CS20 in SA.
Saw some guys talking about subs and at the moment i'm looking for Premier Acoustic PA-120 cherry and i can not find them in SA. Does any one knows if they are available here and if yes where can i go and have a look. Thanks in advance. And guys common, Samsung and Sony are not makes for subs. I wouldn't even buy Polk Audio sub. It is a mainly speaker company not a sub.

DCS wanted a "bang for buck" subwoofer in the 2k-3k pricerange.. I see smartlifestyle has a B&W AS2 Silver for R2900, no idea how "good" it is though some reviews would point that it isn't the type of sub DCS is looking for..

Cats Digital has a few Jamo subs in that price region too.

Only problem with buying powered subs from amazon usa..is that some of them use 110v, that and it takes like 25 work days to get delivered

Hey bavmorda,
I am also looking for a sub at the moment and saw the one you are after on wantitall for R 3,396.00. I see Amazon in the USA has it for $259.00, though not sure about shipping costs on something this big :-/

After reading all the reviews I am seriously considering this one...

http://www.amazon.com/Premier-Acoustic-PA-120-Titanium-Subwoofer/dp/B0021I0DD8

Shipping is what kills you on audio goods - subs are heavy, and big.

I want to get one of these, but the shipping is almost the same price as the item:

How does that system sound?
There are some people in this thread who have bought it (I think Sensorei is one of them) and they say that it sounds pretty good.

Personally I'd get it just to have some decent audio, while I save up for a proper set of speakers, because the receiver is awesome on that system.

How much is the S5405 - I'm considering the S5305...

Or importing a set of these: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/blackstonetl/

Hi DCS,

it is a great sub for the money. Believe me much better then Jamo, Bose and JBL Chinese crap. I own JBL at the moment which is old one and from the time when they were made in Denmark. Regarding Polk Audio, i wouldn't buy Polk Audio sub even that i own Polk Audio speakers. Just look at the specs of PSW 100 which they selling here for R.2999 is twice worst then PA 120 and 10" cone. Thank you very much. BTW two of my friends in Bulgaria own Premier Acoustic subs and i know what i'm talking. I saw them on wantitall, my point was if anyone knows if i can buy them locally? I will really appreciate.
To xrapidx: this is what i'm doing for a long time. At the moment waiting for Polk Audio Monitor 30 and pair cost me R.1380 with delivery to my door. Don't even have a clue how much is locally. And guys please if someone knows where i can find CS20 in SA or i just should order from USA as well. Don't want to say bad thing but the owner of that Polk Audio distributor company is a joker, telling we not playing games that is why i'm not bringing CS20. But that was just my feeling after 5 min on the phone. I might be wrong. And what you saying now, makes me think twice if i should buy locally if i can find CS20.

Hey everyone! Hoping to get some more advice from you guys on which active sub I should go for. Got the Pioneer VSX-420-K and I am now looking for a sub to go with it. I do not really know anything about audio, though I am learning slowly, so any advice greatly appreciated as usual!

I am no audiophile so am looking for the best 'bang for buck' out of the sub... if that makes sense... Where would be the best place to shop for subs? I have no problem with second hand equipment so anybody know of any second hand shops in the Durban area that specialize in audio? Any brand names to look out for or stay away from?

Budget for the sub is 2k to 3k...

Cheers!

I would go check out Simplex Radio in Alexander Street, Durban. Its at the end of Smith street. I paid around R2500 for my Pioneer vsx 520k. They have a range of speakers and subs at ridiculously low prices.

Hoping to get some urgent advice - or I should rather say your guys approval :)

I have found what seems like a good deal for a second hand (pre-loved) Jamo SW505E sub, which is going for R1000. I have done some searching and it has gotten mostly good reviews. The only thing concerning me is how old this model is, think it came out in 2001.

Would a sub woofer deteriorate over time? There are moving parts in the actual speaker so I am sure they must, though is there any way for me to check this? I am going to be trying it out before I buy it so any advice on what to listen out for or what to look for greatly appreciated as usual!

Here are some specs for the subwoofer:
Type - JAMO SW 505E
System - Electronic Subwoofer, Coupled Cavity - Bass Reflex
Woofer - 12" / 305mm
Output - 100W RMS
Sensitivity - Adjustable +/- 12db
Frequency Range - 32 - 150Hz
Cut Off Frequency - 70 ..... 150Hz (Adjustable)
Total Volume - 92 l / 3.2 cu.ft
Weight - 21.5kg

Active subwoofer with 12" long throw woofer and built-in 100 W amplifier.

The woofer with 6-layer voice coil in a Coupled cavity cabinet delivers a very deep, powerful and well-controlled bass reproduction.

Infinitely variable sensitivity, cut-off frequency and phase settings ensure optimum integration with existing equipment as well as trouble-free placement in the room.

The Coupled Cavity cabinet extends the bass range and also functions as an acoustic band-pass filter with complete control over the diaphragm displacements - even at frequencies far below the audible range - so that the sound will never become unclear or muddy. The result is a bass that you can actually feel in your stomach.

The SW 505E really lays a solid foundation for film sound effects and the bass in stereo music. Dimensions (H x W x D): 435 x 435 x 485 mm. 100 W rated output, RMS.

From the specs does not look too great. You want to go much down then 32Hz. Just a thought.

I picked up a S5305 demo for R4k, absolutely love this system.
Will be getting a pair of nice floor standing fronts soon.

Hi Guys,

Please share your opinion on the Home Theatre combo that Dion Wired is selling: Jamo S416HCS+Sub200 and Marantz NR1402 @ R6999

These items individually total over R12000, so I think at this price it's a steal. Is this good bang for buck at this price range?
Wowowow! Great find, go get that ASAP!

The only flaw I can find is that the receiver doesn't do 1080p upscaling via HDMI, but that's nitpicking. At that price it's a steal!
