Hi guys,

I'm looking for a descent cheapish sub. I don't need a monster R80k thing but something for a bit of low down oompf would be good. The rest of the speakers are Monitor Audio - series good quality stuff, so don't want to ruin the system with a sub that delivers less impressive bass than the floor standing units.

Damnit I didn't see those..

I'll take two please :D

Can it do 5.1 surround all by itself? Which Van den Hul wires must one use with these for the best frequency propagation across all impedances?
:wtf: :whistling:

So I got my gear the weekend. Honestly, I don't think a sub is really required at present. The Monitor Audio RX6's really pump. I'm currently running them without the covers, mostly because watching the drivers go nuts is pretty awesome. The BXFX speakers I have for the rear aren't bad either. I haven't mucked around too much with the Denon 2113 receiver yet, but the internet radio streaming and such works really well. Getting everything set up on my Harmony remote is going to be a pain though, but it's pretty essential unfortunately, to get things to work easily. I'm now just waiting for some proper cabling to arrive, at which point I'll tidy things up a bit more than they currently are. Very impressed with the setup currently. Hell, even the wife loves it. We watched The Lord of the Rings on Saturday and the drum beat in the mines of Moria before the cave troll attacks was really good. The intro scenes of both Iron Man movies (The bomb exploding in the first one and the scene where Tony jumps out of the plane in the second) also kick serious ass.

Many people underestimate what properly set up 2.0 or 5.0 does with the right gear. Play around with placement and the options your receiver gives you first.

Subwoofers are all about proper integration and room acoustics. Normal sized rooms are very troublesome in the bass and multiple lesser subs when done right with proper placement can help in this regard.
