Has this once informative thread been derailed to "I can find more ridiculously expensive crap than you"? R629k is more than a bit steep, even for a luxury car, let alone a set of speakers!

Focus! People have cash to spend and are looking for bargains!

The end.

difference between the two? doubt its worth the extra cash!

Well, newer stock, plus it's the black model, whilst they only sold the silver unit at the lower price. The NR1403 has "six HDMI inputs, whereof one is on the front" vs 4 HDMI inputs for the NR1402. It has HDMI-CEC, although that's not really a deal-breaker.

The 1402 also has HDMI-CEC. It seems the only difference is the number of HDMI inputs, and of course the price. Also the controls on the front are flat buttons vs the older round ones.

A big difference that I've noticed is that the NR1403 doesn't have any component inputs, whereas the NR1402 has 2. So they've added 2 HDMI inputs at the expense of the 2 component inputs. Might be important to some.

Looking at it again, there's also no Component Out, and the front HDMI port replaces the Aux In port...

I'm not so sure this is an upgrade really. More HDMI in's are nice, but TV's have so many already these days.

Definitely seems to be more of a downgrade. More connectivity options are always better than too many of a specific type of connectivity option. As you said, HDMI input ports are dime a dozen these days, 4 was plenty.
