No, the deceased would have been a suspect but because he is deceased he is no longer a suspect but confirmed deceased.
Was there ever any doubt that the deceased perpetrated that crime?
If not, how can he be a suspect?

Well, if he had gone to court there would have been doubt by definition 'cos he would have had to undergo a trial, and y'know, lost dockets and amnesiac witnesses, etc etc. I prefer that he instead has to undergo an autopsy that will definitively prove that he is deceased by way of a bullet or bullets passing through critical organs - an altogether satisfying conclusion.
