Suspension of load shedding questioned

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. How on earth can everything suddenly be OK? Doesnt make sense to me!

South Africans may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but it does not take a fool to know that something is very, very fishy here. Things do not add up. We have been told since January that the situation is dire, and then all of a sudden the sun comes out and all the rain clouds go away. Stinks to high Heaven. Eskom and the Government are lying through their teeth.

Agree. We were held at ransom.

Well, because the stations started to blow up and the eskom realised that it'll be losing a ton of money if they continue shedding an blowing things up.

But it's argueable that it's stopped, I heard kayalami had 3 days of shedding in a row last week.

Eish, South Africans are hard to please hey? First we moan that we have loadshedding and now we moan that we don't have it
I'm so sick of this negative country.

The problem was not in power generation capacity, but rather.. as was originally pointed out.. the problem was with the coal supply..

I heard Eskom had bought an extra 250MW from Cabora-Bassa.....dont know if this has kicked in though.

Apparently Caborra-Bassa is only operating at a quarter of its capacity. Being outside SA, Eskom has to buy power from them, only to re-supply it back to them later through the grid.

No - people are moaning about being lied to.
It is blatantly obvious that the need to have load shedding was all a huge lie.

I don't see why they would lie about the loadshedding? What would that achieve if they lied to us and told us that there isn't enough of this and that and that equipment needs to be maintained? Why would they purposely drag their name through the mud? For fun? I think not...

The reason we were having the load sheding was due to anual maintenance. The maintenance is complete so now its not as bad... but we are still in the danger zone

The numbers still don't make sense.

Eskom's financial statements clearly indicate a capacity of 38000MW. It is generally agreed that consumption is 33000MW at peak. 8000MW may have been down due to summer maintenance, leaving a 10% shortfall. But as I see it now, we have a 15% surplus, which should cover any unexpected downtime.

An extra 60 odd percent is what they get out of it Mr Mercurial! Dragging their name through the mud would only be a negative if they were a publicly listed company answering to public shareholders, however they are a parastatal answering to the guavamint, who in turn benefit from the increased revenues!
