Switching a welcome tone off! - vodacom - nokia 6020

Can anyone help?

I have just taken over a ( not new) company cell phone. (Nokia 6020) It did not come with a manual although I have downloaded one!

It is a vodacom contract

Problem is that the phone / number has one of those annoying welcome tones activated and I cannot find any mention anywhere of how to deactivate or switch this off!

At the moment my clients are getting this very static blaring sound when they phone me!

Any assistance would be welcome???

Thinkses it would be in settings - phone - general - welcome note

try adding your own welcome note to override the default and see if it helps.

I have gone into settings, there is no general! there are
profiles
themes
tone settings
personal short cuts
display settings
time and date settings
call settings
phone settings
connectivity
enhancement settings
configuration settings
security settings
restore factory settings

under none of these can I find anything connected to "welcome tones" and I cannot select restore factory settings as it asks for a security code and this I do not know

Padded Mouse, double check under "phone settings", I am pretty sure it should be there.

default security code should be 1111

default security code on some nokias is 0000

default security code on some nokias is 0000

well mine is 1234 ? you would think they would make it the same, but a factory reset will not get rid of the welcome tone.

To me it sounds more like one of those caller tunes. Check if VC customer care if it is active and have it disabled. Not a setting you can do from your phone. ( I think.)

Has this 'phone been ported to a different network? If it's just a blaring tone that your callers get, then it may be the tone indicating to the caller that the called number has been ported to another network.

Agreed, either a port tone, sharp, loud beeps straight after dialling, or a welcome tone, normally crappy music playing with the 'ring ring'
