Sybaritic and TechStop — the lowdown

We got the spam email but have never been a customer so where did he get our email address? Was sent to our info@ address which we would never use in a transaction.

I definitely won't miss that awful sybaritic website :S

Paraphrase

So they say, "We're changing our name and keeping your money (which we've lost anyhow). Sorry about that, but we owe ourselves more than we owe you."

Anyone who knows this guy, has had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with him and Sybaritic, and still chooses to use TechStop, deserve what they get.

Pretty much..

I do like his "warehousing costs" comment... as if they ever actually physically held any stock whatsoever.

Actually the TechStop offerings are a joke; no computer hardware on offer whatsoever (HDDs, memory, PSU's, motherboards, chassis's etc) just cables, toner and the like.

Seems the major distributors aren't prepared to do business with them :whistling:

He runs out of money but he opens a new business? That doesnt make sense.

Arrogant pr|ck. I had the displeasure of having to return a component. Dear lord was that a nightmare. I wont ever support anything with his name attached to it

I probably won't be using them, but it's sad because they used to be able to source some good stuff.

Bought broken speakers from them. Was a horrible experience to get a replacement.

Wow that is dodgy as f$#@... Will personally never do business with them or anything he is involved in. Really sucks for the people who are now sitting a couple K out of pocket, not nice to have that happen to you.

Lol. His new business is a joke. The site is pathetic and there's hardly anything worth buying on it IMHO.

Sad :(
I had a long and great experience with Sybaritic and over time saved quite a lot of money. After sale service was always great.
I had one order pending but at the end of December my credit card payments were reversed soon after receiving a mail stating that Sybaritic was unable to fulfill my order. I don't know anyone who would have done something of the kind and in my mind it proves Graeme has more integrity than most of us. I say this notwithstanding having lost a 2Tb hard disk which was in at Sybaritic for replacement (one of the disks in my last order in November was received faulty) ... so I am not happy at all. I can only get over this when I think back to another faulty disk which a couple of years ago was in for replacement: supplier kept replacing disk with other faulty disks!!! Eventually (and unsollicited) Sybaritic credited me for the full amount (by then sufficient to purchase a disk double in size): I don't know anyone who would have done this either.
... still: where is my f@@@ing disk!!!!!! and then: I am quite sure Graeme would have done something about it if he could have.
So all I can do is to tell those who have never been Sybaritic customers to stop passing summary judgment otherwise they will simply look nasty buggers ... and to wish Graeme a better 2015.

Cool story man.

and i hope the second venture doesn't get him much further, either.

i bought an entire machine from him/them in 2009. put all the bits together, asked - more than once - if their tech guy thought the whole thing would work and then, of course, i got it here and it didn't. spent a weekend trying to diagnose the problem and sent the whole lot back up to them - after having a significant argument about it - only for them to "test" it, turn around and say everything was fine. once i got the machine back on my side, i started going a little more slowly, testing some of my older, known/working components with it and discovered, much to my amusement, that the bios would see old cpu's, but not the more modern one i'd bought. sybaritic NEVER SAID A WORD about this problem. once i figured that out, we did the SUPER DUPER scary thing of flashing the bios so it'd see the new cpu. problem solved. but at that point, we're talking six weeks after the initial order was placed.

being an entrepreneur is good and noble. but not when you conduct business like that.
