SYMBIAN SIGNED WEB SITE UPDATE - NEW ACCOUNT REGISTRATION
(Thurs 9-Aug-07)

We have been working to make new account registration generally available on the Symbian Signed site this week. As a trial, new account registration was turned on at 0830 (GMT+1) today without an announcement, but unfortunately had to be disabled at 1430 (GMT+1) due to abnormal activity, which was degrading performance for all users.
6000 new accounts were created. After analysing the traffic, we remain concerned that the vast majority of these accounts are seeking to register and create Developer Certificates with the primary intention of distributing applications to end users. Unfortunately, this activity is preventing genuine developers using the site legitimately, which is why account registration has been disabled. The Symbian Signed website is designed and architected for Symbian developers and their development use-cases. Distribution use-cases are explicitly prohibited by the Terms & Conditions of the service.
To minimize the impact on genuine Symbian developers, we are prioritizing the service as follows:
- Existing registrants continue to have full access/priority to the site.
- New registration will be phased in as we put more safeguards in place to minimize abuse and impact to genuine developers.
If you do not currently have an account and have a valid reason to have an account created, please send an email as follows to
