Synology DS220+ NAS Review
The Synology DiskStation DS220+ is a powerful yet compact network-attached storage (NAS) solution.
It acts as a secure hub for backup and storage of files to be accessed via devices connected to your home network or the Internet.
This is an excellent option for those who don’t necessarily want to share certain documents or media files over third-party cloud platforms.
These were some of our favourite features of the DS220+:
We set up our DS220+ by connecting it to a Huawei B315 LTE router, adding a 2.5-inch SSD to one of the bays, and connecting a 3TB WD hard drive via USB.
After downloading the Synology assistant, we were able to quickly set up our NAS in Synology’s DiskStation Manager interface via a web browser.
After this was done, we mapped a drive letter for the storage and were accessing and moving files to the location in no time.
Optimal backup and multimedia management
The DS220+ is perfect for backing up and securely storing files over multiple drives using RAID1’s data redundancy capability.
It’s also ideal for content creators who have to manage and securely store loads of multimedia which needs to be accessible from different locations and moved between systems.
For example, after filming an event, you could start uploading the files from your location to your NAS, and they’ll be ready and waiting for editing when you arrive at your home workstation.
