System Fan speed wobble?

Hello all

In the last week I have noticed a large amount of noise coming from my desktop (P4 - 3Ghz - 512MB), and although I realize I could definately do with more RAM, I havent had this problem up and until now. While I'm working the system fan 2 starts speeding up and hovers on just under 4000rpm ,and the temperature rises to 59 deg C (as per my IntelActive Monitor) - it sounds like a car revving!

The system becomes a bit shaky - then things return to normal. I have defragmented etc, but this didnt help. I suspect it could have something to do with the latest XP service packs from Microsoft - but thats pure speculation.

The problem is that I dont know what is causing this and that this is my developement machine and I dont want to / cant send it back to the suppliers for them to run tests on it.

Can anyone direct me on a path to follow?

Thanks in advance.

Do a general scrubbing session ... dust bunnies is bounching in there :p hehe

clean all your fan blades ...even the smallest amount of dst can do havoc to systems fans running @ high RPM
