Good afternoon

I'm currently employed as a Systems Administrator. I have more than 18 years' worth of experience, having started my IT career in 1996.

I have started with the basics, and have taught myself most of my current skill set.

The reason I am looking for other work, is that I have reached the ceiling at my current employer, and is stagnating at the moment. I am also interested in looking at employment outside of Systems Administration. I am hard working and reliable, and doesn't run away when problems pop up all over the place.

I have a very good skill set and working knowledge of the following :

- Networking : Can do fault tracing and troubleshooting
- Computers : Removal of malware, reinstall + configuration of Windows/Windows Server/Linux, upgrading of memory and hard drives when needed, replacement of faulty components.
- Windows (from 95 up to 7)
- OS/2 (from 2.1 up to 4)
- Firewalling : Linux firewalls (Smoothwall and pfSense) to control internet access, limit bandwidth wastage and protect the internal network from possible penetration, block pornography and other undesired websites
- Exchange 2003 : host/provide email services for a company
- Server 2003/2008 : Maintain Active Directory databases and do regular backups. Remove and add users.
- Linux email server : host/provide email services for a company
- VPN : Implementation of PPTP and OpenVPN solutions for road warriors, VPN server can be either Windows or Linux
- 3G : Installation, configuration and commissioning of 3G equipment (with or without Linux-based firewalls)
- ADSL : Installation, configuration and commissioning of ADSL equipment (with or without Linux-based firewalls)
- Remote access : Use of VNC, Teamviewer and Remote Desktop to perform administrative tasks on remote systems
- UPS : Installation, commissioning and testing of UPS units. Replacements of batteries and maintenance when needed.
- Generator sets : Check diesel, water and oil levels on a regular basis, and running it once a month to test.
- Wifi networks : Installation and configuration of WIFI Access Points, and the monitoring of network performance and bandwidth usage. The access to internet and web sites can be controlled with a firewall.
- Familiar with iOS and Android to configure mobile devices for email and internet access.
- Virtual Machines : Use of VM's in the following environments : Virtualbox, Virtual PC, Hyper-V, Proxmox, VMWare
- Backups : Design and implement a backup strategy to prevent data loss
- WAN routing : Design and implement a WAN network with network routing between the branches
- Implementation and use of an asset tracking system to keep track of assets (laptops, cellphones, 3G dongles etc) within the IT environment
- Antivirus products (Avast, AVG, Symantec Endpoint Protection).
- Deployment and maintaining WSUS on several sites
- Deployment of Symantec Endpoint Protection on several sites

I would like to explore different careers in IT besides Systems Administration, whether it be into security, management, project management or forensic services.

I am currently looking for work in either the Pretoria or Midrand region.

Kind regards
