Hey Guys,

Hoping someone can help me out here.

I'm looking for a 10" tablet to use as a checkout system for our honesty bar at work.

The catch is that it needs to support simultaneous OTG (For a barcode scanner) and charging.

I've tried 2x cheap OTG charge cables as well as a J5create JUH660 on a old Mecer tablet and a new
Samsung Galaxy Tab E, but none worked. It's running fine on a old Nexus 7 with the Autodroid Rom,
but I haven't found any similar custom Roms for the Samsung or Mecer tablets.

Can anyone confirm any devices currently on the market that would work, or that has multiple micro USB ports?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe a suggestion is to rather use a phone. Put it in airplan mode and the battery lasts days rather than hours. This will negate the need for a charging port. A phone will also cost a fraction of the price of a tablet.

My son's Lenovo Yoga 2 has 2 micro USB ports. Supports OTG and has a fantastic battery life. He uses it at school to help him as he has dyslexia and it lasts the whole day.

There's a interface that requires input, and the 7" display is already too small, but thanks for the reply!

Look for a tablet with two USB ports, so one can be used for charging. USB 2.0/3.0 specification do not make provision for simultaneus OTG function and charging. There are tricks to fool device, so it will initiate charging in OTG mode, but it is device specific and require hardware modification to the data cable or a self-powered USB hub.

Official solution supported by a standard is already there in the form of a new USB Type-C port, but it will take a time to get on the market non-expensive tablets with such port.
