Taiwan chip design firm Elan Microelectronics on Wednesday filed a complaint in the US International Trade Commission (ITC) against Apple Inc for allegedly violating a multi-touch patent.

Also, Apple were also sued by Nokia - this is hardly a new thing. These court cases are always settled out of court anyway.

Reminds me of the twit trying to take the developers who thought up desktop switching on their own to court over patent infringement ... I'm no lawyer, but isn't patent infringement when you take someone ELSE's idea ... what happens if 2 people in the world thought up the same thing at the same time?

I totally agree and I really commend the vendors that recently (as far as I recall) gave permission for the opensource community to implement without royalties

What makes you think HTC and Google are behind this. Seems Apples attempt to sue HTC over Multi-Touch is going to backfire. I hope Apple gets nailed, be especially good if the Apple products are banned from entering the USA.
