And how many will be left after a few months with their driving style?

Looking at the state of the country, I don't know how this government can keep justifying this spending spree and be allowed to do so by "regulatory" bodies.

WOW Fokken Moerse!

How long has ANPR existed? Must be more than a decade.

It is an incredible good system though, if it works.

At least they are not BMWs, could have been worse.

“They will also be fitted with dashboard cameras. In total, eight Metro Police vehicles will have this technology installed. The cameras will conduct stolen vehicle checks and look for warrants of arrest and unpaid fines.

The dashboard cameras will be the first thing to be trashed in those vehicles: oinkers cannot be caught on camera soliciting bribes.

So the actual camera has semi-intelligent firmware that will be doing these checks and not a separate "komper" programmed to do this? I don't believe it.

The Microsoft logo on the bonnet is the most disturbing aspect of this, if the cars are relying on Windows10 they will be bricked after the first Windows update, and imagine not being allowed to turn off the ignition because Windows insists on installing updates.

For many, many decades South Africa's law enforcement agencies used to get these type of vehicles with so-called hi-tech installed... from trackers right through to mobile computers and life-saving equipment. Fact is, this tech lasts a couple of weeks and are then either broken or stolen, just never to be replaced again. This is the reality for the country. This tech means absolutely nothing. You, can however, be sure that some crony made billions and are now living with his family in some Western country.

Well now that you've pointed it out, WTF's with the thread necro!!!

Is this even the same Microsoft tech that was in the OP?

If it is the same tech, does that mean it actually took 3 years and 3 months to make 416 arrests?

And who steals a red Toyota Conquest and doesn't change out the licence plate(s)?

And was the Toyota Yaris previously owned by an Uber driver?

So many questions.
